suicide squad (2005–) portayal w/ "classic" Harley influences (1992-2000, v. Arleen Sorkin) can also be written as harleen, before her full transformation into harley quinn. this harley / harleen is jokerless. meaning, while she is aware of him as a fellow citizen of gotham and criminal, she has no allegiance or relationship with him outside of that. even in storylines written with joker accounts, they are not treated as her “origin joker” as her origin story has nothing to do with joker. { if you would like to write a similar / parallel plotline as harley quinn & the joker, please dm me ooc so we can discuss! } basically, i am 1000% down to write and plot with joker accounts, as long as they are willing to respect my harley’s background.

II. ONCE UPON A TIME !

full name harleen frances quinzel alias harley quinn / harlequin age flexible, timeline age is late thirties to early forties gender identity cis gendered female, fem presenting. she/her/hers current residence Gotham, new jersey personality genuine, childish at times. stubborn & competitive. easily influenced, creative, fluctuating and severe emotions. bubbly, seemingly friendly and charming, a tad flirtatious. family relations youngest of two, limited contact with her immediate family, including her mother and sibling.

hair falling at bust / mid back level , coily & golden blonde. usually hanging free over her shoulders, in pigtails, or pinned back into a half up — half down ‘do. She has a bald spot from chip implants and her brain surgery scars so she has to wear her hair parted in a specific way to cover it. her hair in the back is also significantly thinner than the front because of the trauma to the hair shafts. eyes black, occasionally wears colored contacts. body stands at a proud five foot eleven inches. lean - athletic build, visibly muscular thighs, arms & core, fatter bottom and face.alternative look black domino mask, white facial makeup (grease paint set with heat & powder), and black and red motley - jumpsuit with ruffled collar and wrists. a detachable cowl and cockscomb (jesters hat with jingle bells at each end). custom made booties with a jester symbol on the bottom of the sole.

III. THE BACKGROUND !

harley has no relationship with her biological mother. they met once, following harley’s parent’s divorce & after the death of her father, but never talked again after that. her father, nicholas quinzel, was extremely abusive. manipulative, malignant narcissist, chronic alcoholic, and tied to the dark, shady souls of downtown gotham. in her teen years, harley left home and moved uptown, where she earned her bachelor's degree, began medical school, and started working towards her certification; to officially become a practicing psychiatrist.after a few years of working at various institutions and hospitals, internships and such, harleen moved back to her, still, abusive, father to take care of him in his infirmed state. despite all she did for him, he continued to demean, assault, threaten, and manipulate harleen into getting her to do what he wanted; give up her career and take care of him full time.

‘ what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? ’ ‘ when one who must destroy meets one that refuses to die? ’one night, after a particularly violent fight with her father, harleen was backed into a corner, bloodied and beaten. if something didn’t change, he would kill her. it was him or her.the night harleen brutally murdered her father was a blur. cyanide laced breakfast, exactly thirty two stab wounds across his gut, round after round shot through him; if it wasn’t for his fingerprints, no one would be able to identify the corpse. she sat by him after calling the police, covered in his blood. harleen left the door unlocked and said nothing as she was escorted to the gotham police station, interrogated, and subsequently arrested her. her prison sentence was lessoned dramatically by her insanity plea, allowing her to serve the first and last third of her time in arkham asylum (in hopes of rehabilitating her), the place where she once served as a doctor herself. during her time in arkham, “doctors” used several methods to get harleen to start talking and ‘sane’ again. all of which, in the end, did more harm than good. now lobotomized, scarred from blood letting, and suffering from the withdrawals and side effects from the experimental drugs and treatments prescribed to her; harleen is once again faced with a choice. ‘ escape with your life, or die. ’the woman once known as harleen quinzel, had found freedom in her life of crime. the ties that she shared with her father, paid off her debts and posted her bail, a partnership forming as harley quinn returned to the streets. a miracle ! she was no longer a shell of person. full of life, of love, of joy. clinically insane? sure. but happy, nonetheless. eventually, she was caught by ARGUS who partnered with actual doctors to get her on the path to sanity and condition her to find fulfillment as a hero, not a villain.

(III) anything involving asylums. harley’s experience in arkham is dark and cruel, inspired by experiences real black women have had in asylums & psychiatric hospitals/institutions in the days where arkham would have first been established, early 19th century. (things like lobotomies, blood letting, straight jackets, insulin coma therapy, isolation, etc). (IV) mentions & descriptions of past and current abuse — emotional and physical abuse, child neglect. also, being sexually assaulted by her professors. as a victim of abuse myself, it helps to sort out my feelings by writing these out. that being said, i understand if others disagree with this and aren’t comfortable writing with me because of it. (to be clear, i’ll never drop anything excessive without explicit warning and/or prior consent from my writing partner.)don’t hesitate to tag me in starters, memes, banter or dm me in/out of character.if you want to ‘spice’ up our storyline by adding in some angst, drama, violence, romance, feel free! don’t feel pressure to stick to the original agreed upon plot and certainly don’t water down your character to better suit said plot. this also included things like accidental injuries, arguments, and (in some specific cases) assault/murder. to me, a plot is more like a general framework to get us going in the right direction, not a roleplay law. all that to say; im easy going! im 10000% down to just go with the flow.

in regards to shipping, i get that everybody and their mother expects harley/harleen accounts to ship with joker accounts but if im being honest, im not purely interested in shipping with any one particular character. yes, it’s possible my harley will end up shipped with a joker! but i dont strike up storylines or interactions with joker accounts with the hopes that a ship will come out of it.i live for a good mix of spontaneity and plotted chemistry building. if you would like to ship our muses together (even if we’ve never written/interacted), send me a message (or look around my account for a shipping call!) i also live for the angst so writing an unrequited love/toxic relationships is definitely on the table as well.
